LG Front loader washing machine leaks bleach out of dispenser

My LG WM2277 front loading washer occasionally leaks out of the
dispenser drawer before I get a chance to close the drawer! The
leaking bleach runs down inside, as well as down the outside, of the
washing machine.

I called LG, who sent out a service technician. The technician stated
that he was familiar with the problem. The solution, he said, was to
NOT fill bleach/detergent/softener all the way up to the MAX fill
lines. Otherwise the siphon tube will suck all the fluid out of the
compartment, and because the drawer hasn't yet been closed the fluid
will flow right down into and along the front side of the machine.
Some of the bleach that spills inside the machine collects in a pool,
which remains until a subsequent wash cycle when it flows into the drum
and destroys clothing by putting bleach spots in it.

Although over the past year since the service call I have tried not to
fill the bleach all the way up to the max fill line when running loads
it was nearly impossible to not make a mistake once in a while. The
bleach compartment is very small and the funnel on top of the
compartment makes it very difficult to see inside the compartment and
gauge just how high the bleach level is, so inevitably the bleach will
reach the max fill line despite my best effort not to fill it so.

Recently I have noticed that rust is bubbling up through the enamel
coating on the front of my washing machine just below the dispenser
drawer. Apparently the bleach, which is highly corrosive, has rusted
the washing machine from the inside out.

Anyone else having these issues?

I had this happen once but it did not ruin any clothes, thankfully.

While I do not have the machine it seems a trivial task to prevent
overfilling the bleach holder. Start with a known quatity of water, fill
the holder to the desired level, determine how water you used. Next time
put that amount of bleach in a measuring cup and pour into the bleach
holder. No overfilling.

Have the same problem less the rust as mine is less than a year old. I
thought that perhaps I was overfilling the dispenser, but trying to
fill that tiny dispenser to an exact line from a gallon bottle is
nearly impossible. When the bleach runs down the front of the washer I
try to wipe it up immediately but once in a while I don't see it. It
makes sense that it is probably running down the inside of the washer
as well.

Add me to your list.

I've obviously got a different model of LG washer than you do.. My
bleach dispenser is on the top of the machine near the left side just
in front of the control panel where the power switch is (my control
panel is on top of the machine and not on the front).. I've had no
problems at all with overfilling any of the bleach/soap compartments..

We've had ours for 2+ years with no problems so far..

We have the LG WM3570HWA front loading washing machine. We premeasure bleach into a no-drip cup. Less then 3/4 of MAX capacity. Always check to ensure bleach container is empty before adding bleach. Still leaks, By the time we realized this was happening, the upper left corner of LG washing machine is rusting.

I have the same issues with our LG Tromm WM2688HWM. And yes, the corner under the dispenser rusted and we get random unpredictable bleach spotting.

Got mine used and already rusted. It seems, since this is supposed to be excellent brand, something so common as adding bleach or fabric softener would be a lot easier and fail safe. You really need one of those long spouted fancy watering cans to fill the containers without spilling any. The top dispenser would prevent you from stacking the machines.
